How Knowledge Works

The Syndicate Network

“Any question worth asking or problem worth engaging is going to have a lot of complexity.”

—Sean Larsen, The Syndicate Network

The Opportunity

Society relies on academic institutions not merely to educate a workforce, but to be places where people are devoted to think about what’s true, what’s good, what’s beautiful, and what’s just. Yet, cultural, political, and market pressures have contributed to a splintering or siloing of disciplinary divisions.

In response, the Syndicate Network builds intellectual community by providing a platform for academic voices, from emerging to established, to write, respond, and engage with each other on ways to move forward on the most pressing issues of the day.

The Approach

At heart, theology and the humanities are a knowledge-building endeavor, a way of confronting some of the most significant challenges of today and tomorrow by unleashing humans’ distinct abilities to rigorously reflect, analyze, and respond to issues with well-informed thinking, values, and imagination. Our goal was to not only visualize the breadth and depth of the complexity, but also the breadth and depth of the imagination it may take to begin to resolve today’s tangled problems.
